Frequently asked questions
How does CareLinx work?
CareLinx is a national network of highly vetted, professional, non-medical caregivers, offering “technology with a human touch.” CareLinx can connect patients and families with caregivers through online portals or telephonic support. For the Post-Operative Support program, you will first request services, providing details on your caregiving needs. Then using our advanced matching algorithm, we will find a caregiver for you that meets your needs.
Do I need medical licensure or prior experience to become a caregiver, and how are caregivers screened?
No medical licensure or prior caregiving experience is required to get started. CareLinx welcomes caregivers from diverse backgrounds, including nursing students, CNAs, HHAs, and even retired RNs. All caregivers undergo thorough background checks, complete required training, and have access to continuing education to ensure high-quality care and safety.
Is there training available?
Yes, we offer free online courses and professional development resources to help you build skills and grow in your caregiving career.
What kind of experience will I gain, and what types of home care services do caregivers provide?
As a caregiver, you'll gain valuable hands-on experience in patient care by assisting with a wide range of non-medical home care services. These include helping with daily living activities such as bathing, grooming, mobility support, light exercise, meal preparation, transportation, and companionship. You may also provide limited medication support, like reminders or assistance with prescription pickups—though caregivers are not authorized to administer or dispense medication. This role helps you build essential skills in communication, observation, and care coordination, all of which are highly relevant to a future nursing career.
Will this role help me in my nursing career?
Absolutely. You’ll gain real-world experience, build your resume, and even have opportunities to transition into nursing roles after graduation.
Can I work around my class and clinical schedule?
Yes! Caregiver roles through CareLinx offer flexible scheduling so you can balance work with your academic commitments.
How do I get matched with clients?
After setting up your profile in the CareLinx app, you’ll be able to browse available jobs and get matched based on your skills, location, and availability.
What kind of support will I receive?
You’ll have access to community support, resources, and guidance from the CareLinx team throughout your caregiving journey.
Is this a paid position?
Yes, caregiver roles offer competitive compensation based on your experience, location, and the type of care provided.
Can I continue working as a caregiver after I become a nurse?
Yes! Many nurses continue caregiving part-time or transition into nursing roles through CareLinx.
